How did we get here?

Marie Kondo, the tidying guru has developed a method for organizing the physical space to create mental peace. This method emphasizes cleaning everything in one go rather than in small steps. Kondo says that tidying up your entire space at once will make you less likely to fall back into your old, cluttered ways. By following these steps and organizing your environment, there is room for your mental health. An important part of Kondo's method is showing gratitude for the things in your home, including what you throw away. Turns out, that being grateful can have many positive health effects.

In every positive psychological study, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, enjoy good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships (Harvard Health, 2021).

An intervention was made based on the working mechanisms found in Marie Kondo's frame. This intervention aims to gain insight into your feelings and thoughts in a non-verbal way. In this way, the user can avoid being ashamed of writing down his or her feelings. The insights you gain from this can make a positive contribution to reflecting on yourself.

Research has shown that building a routine takes at least 21 days. For this reason, a term of one month has been chosen. This month should ensure that a routine is created and that the user can use this as a tool to keep self-reflection.
